Gladstone Ports Corporation has released a video update on its wharf slurry project, being carried out at RG Tanna Coal Terminal at a cost of about $3 million.

Aerial Media Gladstone captured the footage of part of the under wharf deck platform and tank being installed.

The platform in the video weighs just under 20 tonne, according to GPC.

Local contractor Walz Group is completing the fabrication and installation work.

The project will see a new coal collection and pumping system installed on the RG Tanna Coal Terminal wharf.

The system consists of material sizers, pumps, two large tanks and more than 1km of pipe to return coal spillage, sample plant washdown and conveyor carryback to the RG Tanna Coal Terminal settling ponds.

A Gladstone Ports Corporation spokeswoman said the system would improve the port’s ability to collect material from the wharf, reduces the environmental risks and improves wharf housekeeping.

Implementation of the system commenced in March this year and will continue through to October.
