The project involves widening a section of the Bruce Highway from Ron Camm Bridge to Davey Street to six lanes.
The scope of works includes bridge building and widening, intersection upgrades, realignment wires and additional turning lanes.
Construction is expected to commence in mid 2019 and is scheduled for completion in late 2021, weather permitting.
Spanish company CPB, Lend Lease and Brisbane based CMC are shortlisted.
The Commonwealth Government is contributing $88.5 million to the project in partnership with the state.
Between 30,000 and 40,000 vehicles a day use the Bruce Highway north of the Pioneer River.
The project would streamline an important freight transport route, said Federal Member for Dawson George Christensen.
He said Mackay roads carried about 15-20million tonnes of freight every year.
