Drilling is confirming the large-scale potential of the Briggs copper project, 50km inland from Gladstone, according to Canterbury Resources.

The company has released results for three holes completed at the Central Porphyry Zone of the project – each of which intersected very broad intervals of copper mineralisation.

“We are excited by the excellent progress being achieved at Briggs,” Canterbury managing director Grant Craighead said.

“Recent results have confirmed the very large-scale potential of this copper deposit, and we are also observing potentially higher-grade intervals in recent drilling through the central part of the system.

“This leaves us on track to complete our immediate objective of establishing a significant near-surface resource by year-end.”

Canterbury acquired the Briggs and Mannersley tenements in 2017 from Rio Tinto Exploration, which holds certain back-in rights that are triggered by the delineation of a significant resource.

Mr Craighead said the mineralised system at Briggs remained open along strike and at depth, and the drill program would continue until December.
