Laing O’Rourke was last year appointed as managing contractor for the other major ASMTI project works at the Shoalwater Bay Training Area in Central Queensland.
In a December update on ASMTI works, the Department of Defence said more than 30 companies had so far submitted market sounding responses for early works in North Queensland.
This followed information sessions held in Charters Towers, Ingham and Townsville in October.
The market sounding aims to determine the capability and capacity of local industry to service early works packages for the new training area near Greenvale.
Defence is seeking services for a range of works including survey, demolition, contamination and remediation, tree clearing, range control facility, fencing, minor track construction and repair, and relocation of services.
It says early works are anticipated to be delivered between 2020 and 2022.
Interested contractors are invited to submit a Market Sounding Information Response Form via AusTender, and may then be invited to participate in a limited tender for the early works. (Market sounding form HERE)
