The suspension came after Donald Rabbitt, an employee of Curragh mine contractor Thiess, was killed during a tyre change activity in the main workshop on 12 January 2020.
Coronado Global Resources said the Queensland Mines Inspectorate was now satisfied that all relevant tyre and wheel rim fitting at the mine could recommence safely and has lifted its directive suspending such activities.
“A return to work plan has been developed to ensure tyre work is resumed in a safe and controlled manner,” the company said.
Coronado said it continued to conduct its own investigation to understand the causes of the incident and continued to support the third-party reviews underway.
Production at Curragh had resumed in a phased approach from January 17.
Following the resumption of tyre and wheel rim fitting activity, there are no ongoing restrictions on mine operations.
