The proponents of a $415 million battery materials refinery in Townsville have appointed Lycopodium Minerals as lead engineer for the pre-feasibility study.

The project has been named the Townsville Energy Chemicals Hub (TECH), with plans to produce nickel and cobalt sulphate.

Queensland Pacific Metals, a Pure Minerals (PM1) subsidiary, expects the
pre-feasibility study to be complete in the September quarter of this year.

“We are excited to work with Lycopodium on this PFS and look forward to delivering a positive study demonstrating the potential value of the TECH project for PM1 shareholders,” QPM director John Downie said.
