Downer awarded $200m Bowen Basin coal contract

Downer EDI has won a two-year contract worth about $200 million to provide mining and related services at Goonyella Riverside coal mine in the Bowen Basin.

Downer will use existing equipment for the pre-strip overburden work involved in the contract.

The contract replaces an existing deal which ended on September 30 and there is an option for it to be extended a further three years.

Downer chief executive officer Grant Fenn said the company was very pleased to extend its relationship with BMA at the Goonyella Riverside coal mine.
